Telling when there's been a new post

I can't always tell when there's been a new post, when I'm on the 'Basement X' page.

Once I'm in a forum, I can see that 'bold' subject lines is a clear indicator of new posts, but I can't see an obvious indicator of new posts from the Basement X page.

I quite liked the orange thumb tack from the previous board. Would others be interested in that? Is it easy to add in?

There's an icon in front of the forum name that shows whether there are new posts or not:
