Are there any manga or anime series people misled you into picking up?

Here's one not to believe any hype on:

Pretear. A friend of mine wuz really into it so I assumed it HAD to be good right?
I picked up the short manga series.
Yes, her outfits are varied and pretty. But hows about a plot and some frickin' action?
You're gonna hug the villian? Really? Reeeeeeeeeeally? Time to huck this manga off the balcony...
I hear that the anime had more character development, story, and action, but I will not be fooled into watching that too. :mad:

Another girlie manga with none of the action I wuz promised!
The first book didn't even have the fantasy promised on the back cover!
Just the lack-luster life of an unlikable young girl and eventually an almost equally unlikable man.

This series started out really quite good (I mean, check out the hottie in the middle. Va va va voom). It had a lot of action and some cool computer generated graphics, but the story just gradually fell to pieces as the show went on. "Train wreck" was the term used by the subbers. :sweatdrop:
