It's Sunday evening in the UK right now. I should get to bed soon, but I don't want to.

I wonder. Will this feeling of, "I want more weekend", just before retiring to get some sleep for Monday, ever stop until I die?

If I didn't have to work anymore, and was financially stable, I'm not sure it would stop. The rest of society would still function on the working calendar and recognise Sunday evening as the end of one week and Monday the dreaded beginning of a new struggle until Friday evening. My week may never have a start and finish, but everyone else's would and I wouldn't be able to escape their reality, since it would affect mine.

I feel like I must be talking like JCVD right now. "Ils ne sont pas, aware". :p

I have no clear job or direction and life and if it wasn't for Garbage Day being Sunday night, I'd probably never know what day it is. I can't really complain about being an irresponsible bum day in and day out, but there is no real sense of personal satisfaction or achievement when you technically don't have to wear pants or underwear for a month. We all know for Stocky the Achievements Never Cease, so clearly he needs the boundaries of Monday and Friday to maintain his lifestyle. ^_^

You've been what this week?

It is the Canadian equivalent of Spring Break. We call it Reading Week (I assume) because we have a week to catch up on our reading/homework.

At least, that's the plan

wolf_2099
02-15-2009, 10:20 PM
We have an extra week in the spring semester than the winter semester, so when we have a 4 day week (MOnday is a national holiday) they give us a week off.

This is bullshit, not working is in fact freedom from that depressing feeling of not having enough time for yourself. I'm hoping that only working a little bit will save me from it with my next job.

I still wonder what financial security feels like though hehe. Currently not paying any rent or bills (I want to! I ask about it regularly!) so I have the sweet illusion of financial security. Even that feels pretty good.

don't broadcast, hit them , get in and get out.

That's pretty standard, and common sense.

Grappling does jack shit in a fight against multiple people, if you go down, it's over. You need to know how to strike, and strike hard.

CountD
03-27-2009, 01:25 PM
I've seen it happen, though, on more than one occassion.

Then, you see the big guys with their haymakers. And big comparitivelyto us...so REALLY BIG GUYS. They just look to land that one blow.

I actually saw someone get ddt's once on a hard floor. Other guy did not get right back up.

As for myself, I usually wear boots to outings and I find they are very effective when used with the little bit I know.

And knowing is half the battle!

Stocky Boy
03-27-2009, 06:16 PM
Everything is out the window as far as multiple people go. You're fucked. I agree with you both though. In that sort of desperate situation though, you need to be striking hard, fast and visciously until you can safely get out of the danger zone.

As amazing as anyone's grappling skills could be, you don't want to be on the ground, pinning yourself down as an easy target for back-up buddy head kicking.

I get taught how to fuck up 3 peoples shit.
It is an exhausting exercise. Let alone trying to do it in sparring.

You. Never. Stop. Hitting. I mean, not even half a second break between blows.

I've been to this club near where I work two weeks in a row now. I think I'll join up. I like the BJJ there. Class times are annoyingly late though. Just been doing the Monday no-gi classes. Will try a few gi classes soon and the Muay Thai classes, too.

London's been swelteringly hot!
I've been lunching outside with my lunch group and burning every day and then coming back from lunch feeling far too tired to do any work.

So when you don't pass out in the toilets, you sleep behind your desk. Talk about achievement...

Also, isn't there a whole part of your post missing? Right after "Prob"?

And if you buy something in London, make sure there is a spare bedroom for guests. :D

You see I'm just not used to posting much anymore, I've forgotten to end sentences. :D

Missed wrestling tonight, since I've got so much work to get on with. It's quite tragic then that I managed to barely do any work in this extra time!

My brokeass student is taking a month-long vacation in England. Can she and her friend crash with you? :D

Just kidding of course. But oh man, what is she thinking! They have about 575 pounds each. How fucked are they?

If she can get around comfortably with £575 in a month, in England she needs to lend me some money-saving advice.

Yeah, every monday. Two hour no gi BJJ.

I'll probably start doing a gi class as well. There's a Muay Thai class before the gi BJJ class on a Tuesday I've been thinking about.

Oh in other news, I have Iritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

How unsurprising is that factoid?

Time to get more fiber in the diet, review in three months. Apparantly, IBS is quite common. One in five.

Your physician lied to you to make you feel better. This ailment afflicts only you. Well you and your Iritable Bowel...:hehehm:

Can it be cured?

It sure can. All Stocky needs is for someone to stand outside his bathroom while he is taking a shit and shout words of encouragement. All the positive reinforcement will make taking a shit seem like no big deal.

I nominate XIII to be Stocky's Bowel coach.

The beanie/"touque" from Element is being put to good use though. Perfect head and ear coverage.

So, for all those who got my cocky text message about soon getting Diggle and Jock's signiture, I assume you also got my following text which explained that I didn't. :hehehm:

Diggle didn't show up. Poo!

Jock recognised me though. Quite cool. I saw him ten minutes before he was set to do a game with other artists and writers on one of the stages. He was hanging out by Kieron Gillen and Jamie Mckelvie's table (nabbed their signitures earlier). When I went up to him and asked if he was doing any official signings he looked like he was thinking, "where do I remember seeing this person from?). I told him I was going to watch the artists vs. writers showdown, he said to stick around at the end and he would make sure Diggle signed the trade, but then of course Diggle no showed. I thanked Jock at the end anyway and then scampered to get Cornell's signiture at the Diamond booth.

Didn't realise Ellis was only going to be there for one afternoon, which was annoying, because I had heard the queues were tiny, which would have made for an easy signiture grab. London Expo isn't quite NYCC.

Cornell didn't look like he stayed for that long, because after I got his signiture, I then walked around one last time, went back to the Diamond booth to consider buying Freakangels and Cornell wasn't there anymore.

Anyway, in total I got photos and the following signed:

Gary Erskine - Dan Dare #1
Ben Templesmith - Fell tpb vol 1
Kieron Gillen and Jamie Mckelvie - Phonogram the Singles Club #1-7
Jock - The Losers: Ante up tpb vol 1

Thanks Cameron! Much appreciated.
Hopefully Mr. Ellis will get a kick out of it, just like I did.
Hopefully I'll be able to locate the ellusive one at another event as well!

What did Stuart Immonem think of your request?

I'll be sure to keep you abreast of any rare Brit creator who's set to appear at any future event.

I can't actually remember everything I got signed by Ellis - apart from Gravel #1. Gravel #1 sticks out in my mind, because it's one of my favourite Ellis books and I already had Mike Wolfer's signiture on it. I'm pretty sure I would have got volumes 1 and 3 of Freakangels signed, since they've both been signed by Paul Duffield. But, I think I may have also got the big collection of Nextwave signed as well. Nextwave was awesome! I think I may have bought this during one of the NYCCs, but got round to reading it just before seeing Ellis at London MCMExpo.

wolf_2099

Nextwave and Gravel are my favorites of Ellis, althought I find his new series to be not as good as the mini's, although that would probably be because he scripted the mini's, as opposed to just plotting.

Ellis is doing a tad too much plotting and not full out scripting these days for my taste, it looses a lot of quality.

I did go as a matter of fact.

Got Gail Simone's (big girl) signiture on Tranquility vol 1.

Also got Paul Cornell's signiture on Demon Knight #1 and Kieron Gillen's and Jamie McKelvie's. Those guys are always a pleasure. Jamie was joking that Aaron's Wolverine and the X.Men came out the week before Kieron's Uncanny, because, "they [Marvel] wanted to get the better one out first". :D

I only went on the Saturday, because there's just not that much to do really. A couple of friends joined me at the convention in the afternoon, which was pleasant because in other times it's been just me surrounded by teen cosplayers.
