100 Bullets vol 13: Wilt - The End is Here!!!
Back to Brooklyn Tpb

Very small week which great because last week my wallet took a pounding.

Also, I have yet to get the 4th Manhunter trade paperback to complete my collection. I'm just waiting for Amazon to list at a 33% discount. for some reason they haven't done it yet.

What if it goes out of print Wally and you still haven't bought it? Buy now!

Incidently why are me and Cam-adian they only peeps getting No Hero? Be sure to pick up the trade folks! It's quite a novel. The basic premise is, "how much do you want to be a superhero?". The answer provided in the book is quite illuminating.

Also, what's the format of this Wednesday Comics thing? I kind of get that it's a throwback to the olden days and saw the "#1" so thought I'd give it a go.

I get it because I'd let Warren Ellis do things to me. Unspeakable things.

Although, I do not find him as good of late, as he was a few years ago.

Doktor Sleepless, Anna Mercury, and No Hero compared to say Red, Ministry of Space, Nextwave, or Jack Cross.

(I really don't like Doktor Sleepless or Anna Mercury, I dropped them both, which is rare for me with an Ellis comics.)

Gravel and Ignition City are awesome though.

Too late (kind of) Amazon will stock it in 1-3 weeks.

I haven't picked up No Hero because I added about 5 titles to my pull list:

Batman & Robin, Streets of Gotham, Gotham City Sirens, Greek Street & Wednesday Comics.

You still read Angel. You don't count.

After getting Punisher MAX vol 5 & 100 Bullets vol 13 I've now got 2 empty spots on my paperback pull list. I won't be picking up the following storylines in Punisher MAX because I haven't heard anything good about them.

For now, I'll just leave the spots empty and give myself some breathing room.

You don't read any indie at all?

Tragic Angelus

not anymore. back when I was working in a shop I picked stuff up a lot more randomly, and things like Amelia Rules! and Bear were always in my pull, but not any more lately.

What is considered Indie? Anything not published by Marvel, DC, Image and their imprints?

What about Boom! or Dabel Bros?

Or is it the story content?

Gravel and Ignition City are awesome though.

I'm really quite fond of Gravel. I have a couple of the original trades, but am thinking of getting the big hardback collection thing too, which will have the stories I've already bought (boo hoo double spending!) but nevermind.

Quite liking Ignition City too.

Have you tried Freak Angels? Something put me off of that. Can't remember what though.

I tried #1 of Doktor Sleepless and just didn't get it. Don't think I'll try Anna Mercury if you're not fond of it.

Might have to give the other four a try though. What did you think of Planetary? I've got the first volume. I didn't really get into it.

Planetary is one of the most awesomest comics ever.

I just brought all of planetary out to cow town to re-read. I love Planatary. It's very, very slow though. Especially if you were like me and read it in floppies. Ugh.

Freakangels is Ellis's Webcomic, one of the few things by him I haven't read. It is supposed to be a success online though.

Red is a good 3 issue story about a retired CIA agent who gets screwed by the government.
Jack Cross is about a fix-it guy working for the government, same kind of feel as Red.
NextWAVE is a 12 issue series done for Marvel that is pure ridiculous, unadulterated, win. The same kind of ridiculous as Transmet, but done for a mainstream publisher, so tamer.

Anna Mercury was weird for me, and not that enjoyable. Doktor sleepless seems to be Ellis taking all the weird stuff he picks up on the internet and turning it into a comic.

Oh, and Ministry of Space is another Sci-Fi comic, different from Ignition City, worth trying though.

I remember really enjoying it.
