View Full Version : Battlestar Galactica
SPOILERS!
So, about Daniel, the 7. Apparently he was an artist. The only thing we know about Starbuck's dad is that he was an artist. Could it be? That'd make Starbuck the first Cylon/human hybrid, which could mean why her mother insisted she's so special.
Also, Caprica (the new TV show) will feature Daniel and his backstory. It will also tell the backstory of the mechanical Cylons and how they 'found God'. And apparently the creator of the mechanical Cylons is called Daniel. I highly doubt that's a coincidence.
No matter what, the 7 will be interesting to follow.

Daniel is Model 7. The line John destroyed. The 13th Cylon. But they alluded to Daniel himself possibly being alive.
There is no Daniel. The seven skinjobs are the Significant Seven, but the Shareon (Boomer) model is an Eight. There used to be a Seven, but the One model (Cavil, the priest) destroyed that entire line out of jealousy.

And than it could be Starbuck's dad. I also like the idea he might be the one who created the mechanical Cylons.

I also toyed with the idea of him being, or being related to Baltar.

We already figured out about the mechanical cylons. Humans created them. We then treated them like shit, so they rebelled. It has happened before and it will happen again.
The final 5, led by Ellen Tigh, created the other 8 model cylons, including Daniel. He couldn't have created the mechanical cylons.

so the 7 has never been seen on screen then right?

I think he did. I've read it somewhere and I think the creator of the show said it.

That would make no sense after what they told us.
They said the final 5 came to the 12 colonies, and convinced the mechanical cylons to end the original war, by offering them flesh bodies, and ressurection.

That's assuming they are one and the same.
Yes, that indeed is assuming. That's also something I've made very clear: it could be. ;)

Ausiello of EW posted a couple sneak preview clips for next week.

I never watch those. Like I don't watch the intro part where they show parts of the show.

Must remember not to look at this thread between Friday and Tuesday. :D
I'm thinking we will see Daniel or have seen him already. I was toying with the idea that Daniel is Starbuck or the remaining essense of Daniel went into Starbuck.
I'm of the believe that Anders has flatlined, but downloaded elsewhere.

On Earth? I'd bet earth is still a ressurection hub.

Ooooh... good one!

BSG Final Episode to run 3 hours over 2 Fridays. (Yes, I realize that makes no sense.)
http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/02/16/the-battlestar-galactica-finale-will-run-three-hours/
So basically the last two episodes are extra long?

The last one episode's extra long, but yeah.
SPOILERS!
Well, I guess last episode pretty much confirmed the Seven to be Starbuck's dad. Or at least, that's the way I read it.

SPOILERS!
About half way through the episode it occured to me that the piano player must be a figment of Kara's imagination, or what the Boomer 8 refered to as Cylon projection or whatever, when she showed Tyrol the house fantasy. This is presumably the thing Caprica Six and Gaius kept getting in their heads??
Yeah, piano man had zero interaction with anyone except Kara, so halfway through the episode, it seemed likely that piano guy wasn't really there.
I'm thinking that Piano could either be:
- Kara's dad, consequently Daniel, but she wouldn't know this
- Piano man is not Kara's dad, but is daniel
- Or still, Kara is some knock off essence of the Daniel batch
I think the final sequance of flashbacks/projections made it very clear the player was Starbuck's dad (with the way how affectionate he touched her cheek and all that). And given the song he teached her, there can be only one conclusion: he was Daniel.
I read somewhere a while back we'd get to see Starbuck's dad, so the chances this was the scene are pretty good.

I can`t see it going any other way. However, the writers being who they are, I don`t be shocked if we get a huge curve ball thrown in.
This short before the end of the show? Nah, I think this is it, especially given how Caprica will apparently star Daniel.
What irks me, though, is how they managed to create two extreme filler episodes (the previous two) right before the end. Especially the whole 2-2 standoff between the Final Five. It made NO sense for the Chief to vote to go. It was like they suddenly realised they need a 2-2 where Helen would be important, instead of a 3-1 where her vote wouldn't count anyway.

That is where my biggest pet peeve was, the Chief. Why is he working this hard to save the old girl when he is voting to leave?
Too much filler, not enough meat. But remember, I think we still have the equivalent of 4 or 5 episodes to go.

How many now? How many now?
The colony is a little out of no where, but I guess that works.
Who thinks that they will use Galactica like a cannon and eventually whatever explains how Kara crashed a viper and died on Earth only to turn back up alive in a fresh viper will bring about a fresh new battlestar?
I'm thinking they'll use the Galactica as a ram, actually. Givne how Hera was playing with the models at the start of the episode. And possibly they'll pull the same stunt Boomer did (who'll most likely redeem herself by bringing Hera back) and have the hybrid Anders jump away in the last moment.
Just caught BSG Razor. Yes, I know, a little behind the ball on that one. Actually a waste of time, it held nothing of interest.
Well, maybe the "This has happened before, it will happen again." part. But shiiiiit, speaking of redundant. Oh, and apparently Starbuck was already the Harbinger of Death there. Okay.
Are you fucking kidding me? Filler in the fucking series finale?! The fuck do I care about the President's sisters being killed or Baltar's dad being a prick? They're all fucking dead anyway! The goddamn episode took 30 minutes to get interesting and then AGAIN we're treated to uninteresting Roslin's uninteresting personal life? Come on... Next week better have two AWESOME episodes to make up for this failure.
Since when does Adama have a grey lock of hair?
One highlight: Lee back in uniform! http://i.fokzine.net/s/static.gif His character was always better that way.
And now place your bets: who will die? I rather doubt the Galactica will lose the battle, but surely people will go down. I'm putting my money on Helo being one of them, actually. Other than that, no clue. Maybe one of the Adama's, and in that case I'd opt for Lee. On the other hand, with Anders gone, the Starbuck/Apollo coupling is a go again. I also expect Caprica Six to die (and BTW, I was surprised Baltar didn't go with them, given the way he was looking at her when she stepped over the line - he has to anyway, to fulfill the Opera House destiny).

Fuck, I would have gone over after that speech by Adama.
I was expecting Baltar to go over as well, to earn a little bit of redemption.
This finale is going to rock my fucking socks.
Baltar will go, otherwise that little scene with him and Lee has no purpose.
Shiiiit, it's over! :( But what a finale!
Must spend more time to give it some thought. That, and I have to run. But fuck, awesome! The shit happened with Kara, though?

I loved the finale.
MGM: Here (http://www.nj.com/entertainment/tv/index.ssf/2009/03/battlestar_galactica_ronald_d.html) is Ron Moore's final Q&A about Battlestar Galatica. It's all spoiler, so don't read it if you don't want to know.

I was not expecting this much theology and triteness from a series finale from my favorite TV show.
For me, it has always seemed that the theology on the show was mingled in well, fleshed into the show in a way that seemed to flow. It was always an idea, like earth, that some people followed and believed. Never the whole show, but an interesting, and important aspect worked in.
Meanwhile, in the finale, I feel like it was just force fed to me. It did not sit well, and I did not enjoy it. It felt as if I was watching a bad Saturday afternoon fantasy show.
I loved it up until the point they showed second earth. I loved the good byes. I even enjoyed the giving up of technology.
However, the second earth, exactly the same, with them being the "parents" of mankind didn't work for me at all. As someone said, it felt like a parody, and to me just didn't fit the show. I felt like they tried to tie it into the real world way too much, which I thought was extremely unnecessary and a large detraction from the finale.

Am I the only one surprised at the lacking of deaths overall, especially when they did the final bird count after the attack on the colony? What was it, 11 birds total? There were also very few major character deaths, and one of them was a given.
Yeah, basically only Racetrack bit it. And then turned into a deus ex machina.
I think that very often very few birds got shot in the battles, but I did expect some more to go down.

Woah what an ending!
In case it's not abundantly clear, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
I rather liked it in all. I too was a little dissapointed with the way that Caprica and Gaius's hallucinations have been explained as 'angels'. I was also dissapointed with Gaius's explanation to Cavil that saved the day (momentarily). It was all a little wishy washy, 'you gotta have faith man', but overall it worked itself out satisfactorily enough for me. Oh and the rejection of technology all seemed a little unrealistic for my liking too. But again, other than this, I was satisfied.
I was a big fan of the idea that Kara, ever since her death has actually been one massive hallucination/'angel' or whatever you want to suggest she was.
Cavil's coward way out seemed rather fitting and rewarding at the same time. The opera house scene and events as they played out was satisfying to watch and all the goodbyes were suitably moving. The idea that they actually landed on the real Earth was cute enough to not feel too contrived for my liking and the provocative teaser about the advancements in robotics was also cute.
